The original retrofit of this soft-story apartment building involved shoring of the entire structure to remove and replace the existing steel framing in favor of welded steel frames. Fulcrum redesigned the soft story bracing, leaving the existing framing in place in favor of inverted steel frames. This resulted in substantial savings, including elimination of shoring, and allowed the work to proceed while the structure was occupied.
